This winter the Villa Schuler closed again on Nov.18, 2007 for our yearly winter programm of refurbishings. Reopening will be on February 27, 2008.
Lots of additional improvements and innovations are carried out at the moment.
NEW BATHROOMS:
8 rooms will get new bathrooms, all with Jacuzzi showers or Jacuzzi bath-tubs.
This means that finally, after the refurbishings of the last 3 years, all bathrooms of our hotel are now completely renewed. With great care for details.
FRIDGES:
all hotel rooms will now have refridgerators. We decided to opt for the unstocked fridge solution allowing clients to fill them also with their personal purchases. Bottled beverages can be purchased for very reasonable rates at our lobby avoiding the more expensive mini-bottles and reducing our environmental impact.
FURNITURE:
at the moment we are restoring some of our antique fornitures and also replacing the forniture in 3 other dated rooms.
INTERNET POINT:
our new internet room will be ready soon. Internet for free. This will be a complimentary service in addition to our Wi-Fi and laptop service, which our clients can use anywhere on our premisses, including in the guest rooms (fee).
PHONE RATES:
even lower phone rates will be available for 2008.
For example Europe and USA at 21 Eurocents per minute.
SUN ROOF:
on our 4th floor we will soon open a brand new sun roof. An observation saloon with sliding wall to wall glass windows plus an adjoing open terrace with sun beds and sitting areas offering Taormina?s most astonishing panorama with a 360 degree round view, breathtakingly stretching from the bay of Naxos below us to the whole southern Ionian coast-line, from the greek-roman theatre to the botanic gardens, from the medieval castle on top of the the rock of Madonna della Rocca to the houses of historic centre of Taormina, harmoniously wrapped around its lower slopes. And of course including the unobstructed view over whole silhouette of Mount Etna. This makes our new sun-roof the ideal place in town to enjoy the most dramatic and unforgattable sicilian sunsets.
FIRE PROTECTION:
at the moment we are working on security too. Smoke detectors now not only in all rooms and common areas, but also in all those technical and hidden rooms and areas which our hotel guests will rarely get to see.
ISO 14001:
according the environmental policy we have been following during the last 2 decades, we finally choosed to submit our Hotel Villa Schuler to the ISO 14001 standards. It is the best-known, strictest, most reliable and internationally accepted certification for an environmental management system (EMS). It specifies requirements for establishing an environmental policy, determining environmental aspects and impacts of products/activities/services, planning environmental objectives and measurable targets, implementation and operation of programs to meet objectives and targets, checking and corrective action, and management review.
It helps our hotel management monitor and to minimize the impact of all those operations that negatively affect the environment, causing adverse changes to air, water, or land. It also helps us to comply with applicable laws, regulations, and other environmentally oriented requirements, so our hotel will continually improve on the above criteria.
ISO 14001 is similar to ISO 9000 quality management in that both pertain to the process (the comprehensive outcome of how a product is produced) rather than to the product itself. The overall idea is to establish an organized approach to systematically reduce the impact of the environmental aspects which our hotel can control. For a cleaner and safer environment.
